While 257 entries were made as having availed food under the 'Mukhya Mantri Dal-Bhat Yojna', no cooking had actually taken place at Pandwa block in Palamu district of Jharkhand.
The 'irregularity' under the 'yojana', launched by former Chief Minister Arjun Munda, came to light when the Block Co-operative Officer, Pandwa, Bhagwan Ram inspected a centre and found that 257 persons had recorded their thumb signs and also submitted in writing that they had food at the centre today, Ram said later.
However, only the lady cook was present in the centre when Ram visited and found the cook had just begun cutting vegetables.
Ram said the inspection was carried out following complaint of irregularities at the centre regarding the Dal-Bhat Yojna for last few days.
Ram since forwarded his report to the Nodal Officer of the yojna, Bipin Oraon, also the District Supply Officer, for further action. The centre was being managed by a self-help group 'Swarnamati'.
Earlier, in the wake of drought in the state, the state government had introduced the scheme named 'Mukhya Mantri Dal Bhat Yojna' for the BPL families on August 15, 2011.
Under this scheme, BPL families were to get 'dal, bhat and sabji' (rice, pulses and vegetable) at the rate of Rs 5 per plate at railway stations, bus stands, hospitals and public places.
