Secretary (Home) Subhash Chandra Sharma today said the government has directed all district magistrates and police chiefs to inspect such licenced cracker manufacturing units and shops between September 15-30.
Cooperation of the transport and railway departments has also been sought at their level, he said.
The concerned DM and SSP would examine the units to assess whether their location in densely populated areas, and those near educational institutions or religious places, poses any danger.
The unit would be shifted to another place if required and legal action taken in case any violation is detected, he said, adding that the officials concerned would be required to submit an action taken report by October 10.
The decision comes after two women were killed and nine others of the same family injured in a blast in a cracker unit, being operated illegally, in Mohanlalganj area here yesterday.
