A Police Inspector was today arrested by Lokayukta police for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 4,000 and a bottle of whisky from a 'dhaba' owner, an official said.

Inspector Sewa Ram Uchaaria, in-charge of Hatod Police Station, was later placed under arrest.

He had sought a payment of Rs 5,000 per month from the 'dhaba' (highway restaurant) owner Santosh Patidar. Uchaaria had threatened to book Patidar in a false case of selling illicit liquor if his demand was not met, Lokayukta Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) B S Parihar said.

Patidar made a partial payment (Rs 1,000) to the Inspector. He then lodged a complaint with Lokayukta Police, which laid a trap and caught Uchaaria while accepting the remaining bribe amount (Rs 4,000) and a bottle of whisky from the 'dhaba' owner, he said.

The Inspector was booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act and further investigations are on, Parihar added.
