Inspector Hardeep Singh appointed as new SHO of Mehatpur

The Election Commission today cleared the appointment of Inspector Hardeep Singh as new SHO of Mehatpur, replacing Inspector Parminder Singh Bajwa, who was arrested by the Jalandhar police for allegedly assaulting and obstructing an on-duty government official.

The office of chief electoral officer, Punjab, cleared the appointment of Singh, station house officer, Maloud under Ludhiana Police Range, as the new SHO, an official statement said here.

Mehatpur SHO Bajwa, who had booked the Congress's Shahkot Assembly bypoll candidate in an illegal sand mining case recently, was arrested by the Jalandhar police today for allegedly assaulting and obstructing an on-duty government official.

The Congress nominee for the May 28 by-election, Hardev Singh Laddi Sherowalia, among others, was booked for alleged illegal sand mining in different villages of Jalandhar district.
