The Inspector, whose gun went off at a police station here seriously injuring a 16-year-old accused in a theft case, was today suspended.
An FIR under IPC Section 338 (causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) was also filed against Pusparaj.
Revenue Divisional Officer Indrajit, who conducted an inquiry into the incident today at the Neelangarai Police Station, had recommended for the police official's suspension.

"There is prima facie evidence of police excesses against the Inspector. I have recommended for his suspension. I have also recommended for a detailed inquiry by the Collector," the RDO told reporters.
The boy suffered serious injuries after the handgun of Neelangarai Police Inspector Pusparaj went off at the police station yesterday.
The boy was rushed to a private hospital where is condition is said to be critical, sources said.
