Lt Governor Anil Baijal today advised the Transport Department to install immediate response or emergency buttons for safety of women in public transport,
Baijal, who today chaired a meeting of 'Task Force on Women Safety Issues', also directed the education department that senior officers should visit schools regularly with focus on safety measures.
According to a statement issued by the L-G office, the Lieutenant Governor emphasised that all the stakeholders must work in a concerted manner so as to effectively ensure safety of women and child in the national capital.
Special Task Force (STF) for women safety has been reconstituted under the Chairmanship of LG Anil Baijal.
In the meeting, Baijal advised transport department to install Immediate response platforms, emergency buttons in public transport to make them safer for women.
He further directed Transport Department to explore feasibility of after dark 'between stops' in public transport to make them safer for women as recommended by the expert group, the statement added.
