Institute in Kerala gets Intellectual Property Award 2019

: State-run Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST) herewas presented the National Intellectual Property Award 2019.

The recognition was in the category of 'Top Indian R & D institution and organisation for patents & commercialisation.'

The award was received by SCTIMST director Asha Kishore from secretary to department for policy and promotion of industry & internal Trade RameshAbhishek in New Delhi on April 26, a press release said here.

The honour carries a cash award of Rs 1 lakh, a citation and a memento, the release said.

The national intellectual property awards are given to outstanding innovators, organisations, companies once a year on the occasion of the World Intellectual Property Day.

 

The institute has transferred 54 technologies to various companies for commercialisation and it has 97 Indian granted patents and another 127 patent applications are awaiting approval, it said.

The institute is also the applicant or co-applicant in 21 foreign patent applications.

There are also 25 design registrations and one trade mark in the IPR master list of the institute, it said.

The SCTIMST provides high-quality care to patients in cardiac and neuroscience super specialties and promotes research and technology development of medical technologies, the release added.
