In an effort to protect the fragile Himalayan ecology in Uttarakhand, a Central Institute of Plastic Engineering and Technology will be set up here.
An agreement to this effect was reached between Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat and Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers Ananth Kumar, an official release said.
Establishing an institute of this kind in Uttarakhand will help in the disposal of plastic waste all over the state and protect its fragile Himalayan ecology.

Besides, it will also help in evolving the technology to recycle plastic waste, the CM was quoted as saying at his meeting with the Union Minister.
Rawat assured him of doing everything to facilitate in setting up the institute in the state.
