Int'l yoga day celebrated in Naval units in Kerala

The fourth International Yoga Day was celebrated by Southern Naval Command (SNC) at the naval base here and at INS Dronacharya, Fort Kochi today.

A common mass camp was conducted for naval personnel. It was inaugurated by Rear Admiral RJ Nadkarni, Chief of Staff, Southern Naval Command.

Renowned yoga instructor, Nuthan Manohar from "Me Met Me" Institute conducted the proceedings for two sessions of about 45 minutes each, a Defence release said.

Different asanas, Pranayama, conditioning practises and breathing exercises were explained to the participants.

Yoga was also held for personnel posted on ships and the naval air station, INS Garuda.

A total of 1,200 personnel, including those from friendly foreign nations were part of the activities.

 

The outlying units of SNC such as INS Dweeprakshak at Lakshadweep and other training establishments across the country under SNC also actively participated.

Meanwhile, a yoga instructional camp with the theme "Yoga for Peace" conducted at the Indian Naval Academy (INA) at Ezhimala from June 12 in Kannur district culminated today with a mass demonstration commemorating International Day of Yoga.

More than 120 service personnel and defence civilians from the academy, INS Zamorin, INHS Navjivani besides children from Navy Children school, Kendriya Vidyalaya in Ezhimala and family members participated, an INA release said.
