Int'l Yoga Day: Culture min inaugurates exhibition in Delhi

An exhibition on 'Yoga Chakra, Tradition and Modernity' was inaugurated here today coinciding with the International Yoga Day celebrations.

The exhibition was inaugurated by the Minister of State for Tourism and Culture, Mahesh Sharma.

"The exhibition is part of the larger endeavour of the Ministry of Culture to present Yog Parv, a festival of Yoga, in the context of performing and visual arts as well as workshops and interactive session in three interlinked segments," an official release said here.

The exhibition features 370 works by over 150 artists from across India, including historic masterpieces sourced from museums and institutions as well as several fresh, new-age creations by contemporary artists.
 

The Sangeet Natak Academy partnered with various institutions, including the New Delhi's National Museum, Lalit Kala Akademi, Sahitya Kala Akademi, Kolkata's Indian Museum, Allahabad Museum and AYUSH, besides Museum of Sacred Arts from Belgium, for organising the event and which highlights the importance of yoga, which has been practised in India for over 5000 years.
