The US defense intelligence chief is warning that America's technological edge over China is at risk because of cyber theft.

Lt Gen Vincent Stewart, director of the US Defense Intelligence Agency, says the US retains technological superiority. But he also says China has stolen "a lot" of intellectual property from US defense contractors and that effort continues.

He's declining to say publicly whether that has affected US defense capabilities.

Stewart was speaking at a congressional hearing today on worldwide threats.

He said Chinese training and weaponry, including missiles, aircraft and space defense capabilities, pose a significant threat to US forces in the western Pacific.
