World's largest PC chipmaker Intel today launched its 'Xeon processor E7', which will help industries like retail, healthcare and utilities analyse huge amounts of data faster and increase operational efficiency.

"The new lineup, designed for mission critical computing, features in-memory analytics support. It delivers up to 80 per cent more performance and up to 80 per cent lower total cost of ownership than alternative RISC architectures," Intel South Asia Director (Market Development) Rajiv Bhalla told PTI.

"Big data and the Internet of Things (IoT) presents enormous opportunities. In India, the Big Data industry is expected to grow to USD one billion at a CAGR of over 83 per cent from 2012 to 2015," he said.

The industry is gaining traction with IT services/ analytics providers offering business-centric solutions," Bhalla said.

Investments will also be driven towards these new technologies as more mid- to large-sized companies adopt in-memory analytics by 2015.
