Intelligence at work to unearth racket behind fake currencies

In the backdrop of a major seizure of fake currencies of different countries with a face value of about Rs 10 crore by a team of Special Task Force (STF) of the Kolkata Police, various intelligence agencies of both the Centre and state are trying to unearth the racket behind it.

"Various security agencies including the RAW, NIA, SIB and state intelligence are working on it if there is any mystery behind the seizure which involved fake currencies of a number of countries," Deputy Commissioner of Police, STF, Amit Javalgi told PTI.

"Wait a few more days. The investigation is on," Javalgi said.
 

Fake currencies of different countries with a face value of about Rs 10 crore was seized from a middle-aged person in Howrah district yesterday and another person was arrested in this connection.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of Special Task Force of the Kolkata Police raided a house at Domjur of Howrah district and seized fake currencies of different countries--including US Dollar, Turkey Lira, Zimbabwean Dollar, besides Indian Rupee, police officers said.
