Intelligence sharing meeting held

The sixth intelligence sharing meeting of various agencies including National Intelligence Agency (NIA) and CBI aimed at strengthening coastal security mechanism was held here today.

Coast Guard Commander (East) Region Inspector General S P Sharma chaired the meeting along with the representatives from Navy, CBI, Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, NIA, CISF and CSG, a statement from Coast Guard said.

"The main purpose of the meeting was to strengthen the coastal security mechanism in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh and protect the coast from subversive activities," it said.

The meeting reviewed the contingency plan, preparedness, capabilities to make Eastern Coast "impregnable", it said.
