Intense cold wave conditions in high altitude areas of HP

The high-altitude areas of Himachal Pradesh experienced intense cold wave conditions while day temperatures rose marginally in the lower hills.

Keylong, Kalpa and Manali shivered at minus 8.7 degrees Celsius, zero degree Celsius and 0.6 degrees Celsius respectively, the MeT department said.

Bhuntar and Sundernagar recorded a low of 4 degrees Celsius and 5 degrees Celsius respectively, followed by Solan 5.4 degrees Celsius, Palampur 6 degrees Celsius, Una 6.7 degrees Celsius, Nahan 10.5 degrees Celsius and Dharamsala 10.8 degrees Celsius.

The mercury rose to 27.4 degrees Celsius at Una in the foothills, while Solan and Sundernagar recorded maximum temperatures at 23.5 degrees Celsius and 23.2 degrees Celsius respectively.
 

The local MeT office has predicted rains or snow at isolated places in mid and higher hills for four days from Monday as a fresh western disturbance lies over the region.
