Intense cold wave conditions prevail in Himachal Pradesh

Intense cold wave conditions prevailed in Himachal Pradesh today even as mercury rose marginally and the region had dry weather.

The minimum temperatures stayed between minus 10 and minus 18 degrees in high altitude areas while Keylong and Kalpa in tribal Lahaul; and Spiti and Kinnaur districts recorded a low of minus 7.8 degrees and minus 2.2 degrees, followed by Manali minus 1.8 degree, Una minus 1.6 degree Bhuntar minus 0.4 degree, Sundernagar 0.2 degree, Solan 2.2 degrees, Palampur 2.4 degrees, Dharamsala 4.6 degrees and Shimla and Nahan 6.4 degrees Celsius.

The maximum temperatures rose by two to three degrees and Solan was hottest during the day with a high of 24 degrees, followed by Una21.7 degrees, Sundernagar 19.5 degrees, Bhuntar 18.2 degrees, Nahan 17 degrees, Shimla 15.8 degrees, Manali 12.4 degrees, Dharamshala 11.6 degrees and Kalpa 11.4 degrees Celsius.
 

The local MeT office has predicted rains or snow at isolated places in mid and lower hills tomorrow and dry weather in the region from December 28 to January 1 next year.
