Intense heat grips Pb, Haryana; Narnaul hottest at 41.9 deg C

Intense heat gripped Punjab and Haryana as day temperatures went up by seven notches above normal in many parts with Narnaul being the hottest place where the mercury settled at 41.9 degrees Celsius.

Hisar sizzled at 40 degrees Celsius, seven notches above normal, followed by Ambala 37.4 degrees Celsius, Ludhiana 37.1 degrees Celsius and Patiala 38 degrees Celsius, eight notches above normal, the MeT department said.

In Amritsar, the maximum temperature was 34.8 degrees Celsius, five notches above normal, while Chandigarh recorded a high of 35.5 degrees Celsius.

The MeT department has forecast partly cloudy days with possibility of light showers at isolated places in the region over the next two days.
