Mercury in Hisar soared to 47.5 degrees as intense heat wave swept Haryana and Punjab today.
In Haryana, extreme heat prevailed in Narnaul that recorded the maximum temperature at 45 degrees. Gurgaon, Faridabad, Rohtak and Bhiwani also recorded their respective maximums between 42 and 46 degrees, the MeT office said.
In Punjab, Amritsar had a high of 41.5 degrees. Ludhiana also had a hot day at 41 degrees, while Patiala's maximum settled at 40.7 degrees. Mercury in Union Territory of Chandigarh settled at 39.6 degrees.
