Intense heatwave grips Pb, Haryana; Hisar sizzles at 47 deg

An intense heatwave today swept Punjab and Haryana with Hisar being the hottest place in both the states.

Hisar in Haryana sizzled at 47.1 degree Celsius, five notches above normal, MeT department said.

With scorching heat prevailing in the region, Narnaul recorded its maximum at 46.5 degree Celsius while Ambala's maximum was 43 degree Celsius, four notches above normal.

Chandigarh recorded a maximum temperature of 42.5 degree Celsius, three degrees above normal.

In Punjab, Amritsar's maximum temperature settled at 43.4 Celsius, three notches above normal.

Ludhiana and Patiala recorded 44 degree Celsius each, four degrees above normal.

MeT department has predicted light rain or thundershowers at isolated places in Haryana and Punjab over the next two days.
