Inter-state car lifters arrested

A gang of four inter-state car lifters has been arrested today, while they were trying to flee to Nagaland.

According to Jorhat SP Amanjit Kaur, the police arrested the four from Mariani rail station premises.

"They were on the move to Mokokchung in Nagaland to collect money from car buyers there. The four-member team was coming from Dimapur to Mariani by train," she said.

After getting specific information, patrolling in several entry and exit points of the district were intensified, Kaur said.

The four persons have been identified as Ramen Gogoi, Ankit Tanti and Ramen Bora from Assam, and Raju Devbarma from Tripura, she said.
 

From the four car thieves, four mobile sets, some instruments and gadgets used for unlocking vehicles and some keys were recovered, Kaur added.
