Inter-state gang busted, 29 stolen vehicles recovered

The Punjab police today arrested four persons and claimed to have busted a gang that allegedly stole vehicles in Delhi, Punjab and several other states.

"The gang used to steal vehicles from Punjab, Delhi, UP, Maharashtra, Chandigarh and Gurgaon," IG, Patiala zone, Amardeep Singh Rai said.

"As many as 29 stolen vehicles, including SUVs worth Rs 3.50 crore were recovered from their possession," he said.

"During the preliminary questioning, the accused admitted to have stolen 56 vehicles," he said.

Balwinder Singh, a resident of Dhapi in Amritsar was the kingpin of the gang who was among those who had been arrested, he claimed.
 

Acting on a tip-off, a police team arrested Balwinder Singh, Simarjeet Singh, Sandeep Singh and one more person, Rai said.
