Inter-state gang involved in stealing pipes busted

The police today claimed to have arrested six members of an inter-state gang involved in stealing pipes during a checking drive near Chachoki village here.

The arrested have been identified as Pawan Kumar of Hyderabad, Narayan of Delhi, R Mugam of Chennai, Pardip Kumar of Rajasthan, and Lavkuchh and Mukesh of Uttar Pradesh, SHO at the Sadar Police Station, Inspector Lakhbir Singh, said.

They were involved in stealing water pipes and most of them were staying in Delhi, he said.

Acting on a tip off, they were arrested at a check-post near Chachoki village on the National Highway-1, the SHO said.
 

Ninety-one stolen pipes were seized from the truck in which they were travelling, he said.

They have been booked under sections of theft, dishonestly receiving stolen property and criminal conspiracy of the IPC, Singh said.

They have been remanded to two-day police custody by a local court, the SHO said.
