Inter-state gang looting train passengers busted in MP

Government Railway Police (GRP) today claimed to have busted a gang of inter-state thieves allegedly involved in looting train passengers and arrested seven persons in this connection here.

Police also recovered jewellery worth Rs 10 lakh.

"Jewellery worth Rs 10 lakh was recovered from an inter-state gang involved in looting train passengers," Railway Superintendent of Police, Awdhesh Goswami, told reporters here.

Acting on a tip-off, a hideout belonging to miscreant Syed Ahmed Shah Aafrin alias Bobby (38), was raided and seven persons were apprehended.

However, Aafrin was not found at the site and police had launched a hunt to nab him.
 

He said that action under National Security Act (NSA) would be initiated against him soon.

Goswami said that the arrested persons were identified as Satybhan Singh (33), Ved Prakash Singh (36), Praveen Singh (19), Sandeep Singh (20) and Ummed (38), Satyapal (20) and Dalveer Munshi (35).

They admitted to committing 30 crimes in various trains and all hail from Haryana's Jind, Bhiwani and Hisar districts and belong to Sansi caste.

The gang's modus operandi involved targeting passengers, especially elderly people while they were about to alight train at any station.

Besides, to fake their identities they used to wear good clothes and look decent.
