A special MCOCA court here has granted interim bail to the gutka manufacturers Rasiklal Dhariwal and J M Joshi in a case of alleged help to the Dawood Ibrahim gang to set up a gukta plant in Karachi.

Names of the duo first cropped up in a confession of an arrested aide of Anees Ibrahim, the fugitive gangster's brother.

CBI had recently filed a supplementary charge sheet against Dhariwal and Joshi.

The special court dealing with Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act cases yesterday granted them interim bail till September 16.

The first charge sheet in the case was filed in 2005 against Jamiruddin Ansari, Anees's aide, who stated in his confession that he had visited Dubai in 2000 when he saw Joshi with Anees.

Joshi was seeking the gangster's help for recovering some dues from Dhariwal, and Dhariwal too went to Dubai on Anees's summons, Ansari had said, according to the prosecution.

Later, they went to Karachi, Pakistan, and Dawood Ibrahim acted as a mediator and settled the issue, he said.

According to Ansari, Joshi and Dhariwal later helped set up a gutka plant for Anees in Karachi.
