International Centre for Arts and Culture in Meghalaya soon

An International Centre for Performing Arts and Culture is coming up at Mawkasiang, about 11 km from here and its foundation stone would be laid by Meghalaya Chief Minister Mukul Sangma on April 23.

Official sources today said the Centre would provide infrastructure of international standards to host state, national and internationals events of performing arts, cultural fiestas and musical fests.

A project under the Non-Lapsable Central Pool of Resources (NLCPR), it is sanctioned by DONER ministry and is being implemented by the department of arts and culture of the state.

It would have state of the art facilities such as auditoriums, performing arenas/opera houses, exhibit areas, convention facilities, administrative block, food court, international guest house and related support facilities and other features deemed suitable for such a centre, the sources added.
