Children of various theatre groups from eight countries besides host India will take part in an International Children's Theatre Festival in the city next month, organisers said today.
The eight countries are France, Slovenia, Swaziland, Mexico, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Bangladesh, festival committee president and former minister Madan Mitra said.
Children of theatre groups from Indian states such as Kerala, Assam, Andhra Pradesh, Manipur, Odisha and West Bengal will also be participating in the five-day festival at the Academy of Fine Arts from June 17 to 21.
The festival, organised by the 'Kolkata Eso Natak Shikhi', is based on the theme "Safe Drive Save Life, Save Kids' Life," said Mitra, also Trinamool Congress leader.
"There will be no entry free. The festival will be open for everybody," said Mitra, who along with theatre personality Debshankar Halder, also unveiled the festival poster and a website.
