Emerging trends and issues in Open and Distance Learning (ODL) with reference to sustainable agricultural development will be deliberated at a two-day conference beginning on November 24 here.
The international conference on "Open and Distance Learning for Sustainable Development in Agriculture ODLSDA- 2016," will be organised by the Directorate of ODL in Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, in which several delegates, experts, educators, administrators and academicians will be taknig part, a varsity release said today.
Experts from international agencies like Commonwealth of Learning, Canada Open University of Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka, Centre for Open Learning, Maldives,Indira Gandhi National Open University, Delhi, Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Delhi, Tamil Nadu Open University, Chennai, and other Agricultural and Conventional Universities in India are expected to participate, it said.

Other speakers at the seminar included Professor Sabir Badal Khan, a researcher on Baloch history at the Oriental University of Naples, Maxwell Downman, Parliament Researcher in the service of the House of Lords and Jamal Nasser Baloch, a member of the Free Balochistan Movement. Haider K B Baloch, a lawyer and human rights activist from Balochistan's Turbat district, who was also scheduled to speak, was unable to attend, as he was disallowed from boarding his flight to London by the Pakistani immigration authorities. Another speaker, Dr Yaqoob Bangash, who was also scheduled to speak, could not attend after he was 'warned' by Pakistani security officials not to attend the event.
