International Kite Festival in Vadodara on January 10

Kite fliers from different countries will display their skills at the International Kite Festival to be held at Navlakhi compound in the city tomorrow, a senior civic official said.

"The event is being jointly organised by Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC), Vadodara district collectorate and Gujarat Tourism Corporation Ltd (GTCL)," VMC commissioner Vinod Rao told PTI.

The festival coincides with the inauguration of Vibrant Gujarat Summit by PM Narendra Modi in Gandhinagar on Tuesday.

Participating nations include France, Germany, Israel, Switzerland, Indonesia, Turkey, among others, said Rao, adding, kite fliers from Kerala, Karnataka and other parts of Gujarat too will be seen in action.
 

Rao said, "Vadodara is known for kite festival on 'Uttarayan' falling on January 14 and on 'Vasi Uttarayan' on January 15 marking celebrations of Makar Sankranti."

Navlakhi compound the venue of the International Kite Festival is located on the bank of Vishwamitri river and is also among the preferred place by the international kite fliers.
