The ninth International Qiraat-e-Quran was held till wee hours today at the local historic Iqbal Maidan here in which 12 'Qaris' from five foreign countries and India recited the Quran.
Qaris are those who know Quran by heart.
The Qiraat-e-Quran was organised by Anjuman Zeenatul Quran, Bhopal, run by local MLA Syed Arif Aqueel.
Qaris from Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Qatar, Bangladesh and India took part in the programme.
Egyptian Abdul Wahab was adjudged as best Qari while Iranian Mohammad Ameen Asadi, Sheikh Hussain from Iraq and Aftab Ahmad from Deoband, India, were adjudged second, third and fourth respectively.
