An alleged interstate fraud who used to cheat gullible women off their jewellery after impersonating himself as a police officer has been arrested along with his associate from south Delhi here.
According to police, the main accused identified as Tabrez (27) was wanted in more than 30 cases in Delhi, NCR and Maharashtra.
The duo had recently cheated one Raji Murali when she was standing near Soami Nagar Bus Stand.

On her complaint, police registered a case and investigation was taken up.
On 27 May, the team received credible information that two active members of the Irani Cheats Gang namely Tabrez along with his associate would come at about 4 pm towards Asian Market for committing some crime.
"The team laid a trap near MB Road, Asian Market and overpowered the duo. During search, two golden bangles, one golden ring and one golden chain looking like mangalsutra were recovered from their possession. During enquiry about recovered articles, they tried to mislead police but later they broke down," he said.
During interrogation, Tabrez allegedly disclosed that he along with his gang members used to impersonate as police officers and cheat the people. Tabrez also revealed that he had been involved in more than 30 cases in Delhi, NCR and Maharashtra.
He further disclosed that he used to visit different place of Delhi, NCR and Maharashra to target the people by adopting the same modus operandi.
After verifying the facts from Maharashtra Police, it was revealed that accused Tabrez is wanted in 27 cases in Mumbra, Wagle Estate, Naupada, Rabodi, Shil Daayghar and Kalwa in Maharahtra. He is a "Most Wanted Criminal" of Thane district in Maharashtra, he added.
