IOC, Bharat Petroleum and Indian Railways enter semis

Defending champions Indian Oil Corporation and Bharat Petroleum Corporation from Group A, while Indian Railways from Group B have progressed to the semifinals of the 90th edition of MCC Murugappa Gold Cup hockey tournament here.

Table toppers Indian Railways, who have scored 22 goals in four matches, have earned nine points and IOC (10) have completed their league engagements.

Bharat Petroleum, with a match to go against Tamil Nadu tomorrow, would likely to finish on top of Group A as they have already aggregated seven points from three matches, including a drawn tie against IOC yesterday.

In a crucial match today, former champions Army XI got the better of Punjab and Sind Bank 3-2, while Railways overwhelmed Karnataka with a huge margin of 8-2.
 

In a Group A match, IOC toyed with Mumbai to post an easy 5-2 win.
