: Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) Wednesday saidunder the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, 5.14 lakh gas connections were released in Telangana by three oil PSUs (IOCL, BPCL and HPCL).
According to a press release issued by IOCL here, the LPG coverage in the state is about 110.5 per cent of the household population.
"This scheme (PMUY) will benefit enrolment in certain districts like Jangaon, Jayashankar Bhupalapalli, Komram Bheem Asifabad, Mahbubabad, Nagarkarnool, Peddapalli, Vikarabad, Wanaparthy and Warangal Rural where LPG coverage is around 80 per cent," it said.
IOCL has given 2.05 lakh connections while BPCl and HPCL gave 1.34 lakh and 1.75 lakh connections respectively under the scheme since April, the release said.
Under PMUY, free cooking gas (LPG) connections is provided to all poor households.
To increase the coverage and also to serve existing customers better a scheme of lucky draw has been designed and implemented by the Indane distributors of Telangana.
Under this scheme, all the new connections enrolled (under various schemes) and customers availing second cylinder connection from December 19 to February 23, 2019 will be eligible to win prizes (which include new car, motorcycles, televisions and many more), the release added.
