iPhone SE, the US technology major Apple's latest bet to grab a bigger share of the booming Indian smartphone market will start selling in the country from April 8 for Rs 39,000, a price higher than that of existing models.
Beetel Teletech and Redington have said they will begin the distribution of iPhone SE, Apple's lowest priced smartphone, from April 8.

However, the starting price at Rs 39,000 in India is higher than some existing models, which are available on the country's online marketplaces, like iPhone 5s at Rs 25,000 and iPhone 6 at around Rs 32,000.
Supply chain solution provider Redington in a statement said it "will offer iPhone SE beginning April 8, in 3,000 retail outlets across the country".
Beetel Teletech said that it will offer "iPhone SE, the most powerful phone with a four-inch display, beginning Friday, April 8, 2016 at over 3500 retail locations across India."
IPhone SE will be available in space grey, silver, gold and rose gold metallic finishes in 16GB and 64GB models starting at Rs 39,000 from Apple Authorised Resellers and select carriers, Apple said in a statement.
Pre-orders for the handset opens March 29, it said.
"iPhone SE is packed with a stunning 4-inch Retina display, advanced 64-bit A9 chip with M9 motion co-processor, longer battery life, 12-megapixel iSight camera with True Tone flash, Live Photos, 4K video, faster LTE and Wi-Fi," Apple's Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing, Philip Schiller said.
"iPhone SE is an exciting new idea - we started with a beloved, iconic design and reinvented it from the inside out. The result is the most beautiful and powerful phone with a four-inch display in the world," Schiller said.

The 64-bit A9 chip, introduced in iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, offers iPhone SE customers two times faster CPU and three times faster GPU performance compared to iPhone 5s, all with gains in energy efficiency for improved battery life, the statement said.
IPhone SE users can browse, download and stream content even faster with wi-fi up to three times and LTE up to 50 per cent faster than iPhone 5s.
