IPL betting racket busted in Odisha

With the arrest of two persons here in Ganjam district, police today claimed to have busted a racket involved in betting on matches in the ongoing Indian Premier League.

The accused, identified as Khirod Kumar Gurungu alias Shankar and Ambika Prasad Das, were caught red-handed at a house in Chandan Nagara when they were allegedly betting for each over of the T20 cricket match being played between Gujarat Lions and Royal Challengers Bangalore yesterday, SDPO of Berhampur town, Shantanu Das said.

Over Rs 11.18 lakh in cash, 10 mobile phones, a laptop, calculation sheets and other materials were seized from them, he said.
 

It is suspected that some more persons may be involved in the racket and their involvement with bookies outside the state cannot be ruled out, the SDPO added.
