An Iranian couple was apprehended at the Delhi airport for allegedly using a fake ticket to enter the terminal area, a senior official said today.

Md Pirazizi and Y Yasdanzoo were intercepted by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel as the couple was about to leave the Terminal-3 building of the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) around 2 pm, the official said.

They were stopped and questioned as exiting the terminal area is not usually permitted for passengers, he said.

The couple, who had an Iranian passport, told the security personnel they used a cancelled ticket to enter the terminal area to see off their daughter who was travelling to Tehran, the official said.

They were subsequently handed over to the police as their ticket was fake and charged with alleged trespass, he said.
