An Iranian ship has been detained at Essar jetty in Hajira port for its alleged involvement in an accident with a fishing trawler, in which two fishermen were killed and three others are missing, police said here today.
"We have detained a foreign ship 'M V BATIS' of Iran at Essar jetty in Hajira port, as its captain was allegedly found involved in an accident," Police Sub Inspector V J Bharwad of the Surat marine police station said here today.
The accident had claimed two fishermen's lives and also three others went missing. The ship had hit a fishing trawler at 64 nautical miles from Magdalla port near Jafrabad coast of Amreli district, Bharwad said.

The police detained the ship and asked port authorities not to allow it to go anywhere until the concerned police station finishes the probe, Bharwad said.
The captain of the ship had allegedly hit the Indian fishing trawler three days ago and had also tried to escape, he said.
The marine police has been probing the incident and the foreign ship would remain here until the probe is not completed, he said.
