The ultimatum was given after a request was made by the police to the protesting villagers to clear the national highway, which remained blocked for around 12 hours yesterday in protest against the police failure to trace the constable, who went missing a week ago.

23-year-old Devender Ahlawat alias Monu, a Delhi constable posted at Malviya Nagar police lines, had gone missing under mysterious circumstances on August 28 last. His motor-cycle was later recovered from an isolated place in Mokhra village in Rohtak two days after the incident.

Meanwhile taking to reporters here, Jitender, elder brother of Devender, suspected the involvement of Deepak alias Khallu, husband of the village head Mukesh Kumari, and his accomplices in the crime.

Meanwhile, a manhunt is on to nab Deepak, who is at large, police said.
