IRCTC announces pilgrim special trains

The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation today announced the launch of pilgrim special tourist trains covering key pilgrimage destinations across the country in keeping with a Union Budget announcement.

Announcing the opening of bookings for the special trains which will start chugging from October 25, IRCTC Regional Director V Sriram told reporters here that the packages are available for tourists in three categories, "Standard, Comfort and Deluxe."

The trains leave from Bangalore and Madurai.

The packages include 10-day Sukhmangalam Yatra special train covering Shirdi, Bijapur, Solapur, Ellora and Ajanta and it will leave on October 25 from Bangalore, Navagraha temple tour covering temples in Tamil Nadu stretches to seven days. The train will depart from Bangalore on November 20.
 

The frequency of the yatra special trains are tentatively scheduled for twice a month and these will be operated in the same select sectors till March 2015.

"We will study the response and make changes in destinations and packages if warranted," L Ravikumar, Additional General Manager, IRCTC said.

In standard category, Rs 910 is charged per person per day, Rs 1970 per person per day for comfort range and Rs 2650 for deluxe category.

Each category comes with customised amenities like airconditioned coaches and rooms in hotels.
