The Irish woman, who was allegedly raped in the city last week, has been hospitalised following an overdose of medicines including sleeping pills.
The 21 year old Irish woman was admitted to the ICU of Calcutta Medical Research Institute yesterday and is currently stable.
"She was admitted to the hospital yesterday following overdose of prescribed medicines and sleeping pills. Right now she is stable.

"But we have kept her in the ICU. We hope that after two three days we will be able to shift her to the general ward," a senior official of the hospital said.
She was admitted to the hospital by a fellow Irish citizen, who was staying in the same city hotel.
The 21 year old Irish woman, who had been in the city since May for her work with an NGO, was allegedly raped by a man in his house in Kalighat area on Saturday last week.
The woman had filed a police complaint alleging that she met the accused on May 31 in a city pub where she was celebrating her birthday. Later the man allegedly took her home and raped her.
Following the complaint, police had arrested the man who is now in police custody.
