Palghar Zilla Parishad chief executive officer Dileep shinde has ordered a probe into the alleged fraud in the MREGS works in Vikramgadh taluka of the district.
The order was issued yesterday after the CEO received a complaint by NGO Shramajivi Sanghatana which alleged irregularity in disbursment of wages by the Zilla Parishad officials under the MREGS (Maharashtra Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme) scheme in Vikramgadh taluka.
According to a NGO press release issued here today, it had carried out inspection to check with the labourers if they were receiving their wages on time or not and irregularity in execution of development works.

President of Sanghatana Vivek Pandit and other members of the NGO met the CEO and appraised him about the extent of irregularity in the department and demanded action against officials concerned.
A road construction work on the Alonda-Dalvi Pada route was shown that it has started last week but in actual there was no sign of work while wages (of labourers) have been transferred to accounts of persons who do are not even alive, it alleged.
In one case, a woman who runs a mess and earns a sizable income, was shown as employed as a 'labourer' in the MREGS works, Pandit said, adding there are many such cases of irregularity.
Pandit, a former MLA, and others also met the district collector and sought immediate action against officials who will be found guilty in this connection.
