Irrigation dept to operate from Vijaywada

Andhra Pradesh Irrigation Minister Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao today said irrigation department from now onwards will operate from Vijaywada.

The minister today inaugurated the new office building here at irrigation circle office premises.

He said the new building would be used as a central office of the department.

"All the on going projects would be completed as per the schedule and projects undertaken at places Polavaram, Kandaleru, Handri-Neeva and Pulichintala would be completed on priority basis," Rao told reporters here.

He said improving irrigation facilities in the state is a must for the TDP government to achieve its objective of creation of Andhra Pradesh as 'Swarnandhra' (golden Andhra Pradesh).
 

Rao on the occasion also reviewed progress of ongoing projects with the chief engineers of the department.
