Indian School of Businesses (ISB) in association with the National Stock Exchange (NSE) has set up a "trading laboratory" at its campus here.

The lab aims at offering a professional real time live trading experience with 34 terminals, to the students besides taking up research on developing markets.

"Academia and industry have operated in two independent and almost mutually exclusive spheres in India, especially in the sphere of finance and capital market. This has deprived students of opportunities to learn in an environment that combines real world applications with conceptual rigour," ISB Dean Ajit Rangnekar said in a press conference.

"Industry on the other hand has not benefited from the cutting edge research that can potentially emanate from academia. The association with NSE is to fill the gap," he said.

Chitra Ramakrishna, MD and CEO, NSE, said it was first-of-its-kind for the exchange to collaborate with any business school.
