The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) has decided to spread vedic knowledge among college students by holding 'Prerana festival' every month at its complex in south Mumbai.

Based on the teachings of ISKCON founder Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, ISKCON's Radha Gopinath temple in Girgaum Chowpatty has been spreading the vedic knowledge among students since 1995.

This year, the prerana festival will be held on July 22 on the "joy of de-addiction" by Gauranga Das, an alumni of IIT-Bombay and also the director of ISKCON's Govardhan eco village, said a statement issued by ISKCON.

The 'prerna movement' began in 2002 as a small endeavour to empower youth and it has now transformed itself into a juggernaut attracting hundreds of youngsters every month, it said.

With the motto of 'nourishing lives and transforming hearts', the festival imparts the much needed knowledge, values and skills based upon the glorious vedic culture of India resulting in a regulated, purposeful and joyful life, ISKCON's spiritual leader Radhanath Swami Maharaj said.
