Seasoned midfielder Ishfaq Ahmed today rubbished media reports that he had breached his IMG-Reliance contract for the IPL-style football tournament to play for I-League club East Bengal.

"I've signed a contract with IMG-Reliance for their proposed franchisee tournament. It's my privilege to play for the tournament and I'm fully committed to honour my contract," Ishfaq said about recent reports that he was in "talks" with East Bengal officials.

"My comments in the media were misconstrued and I deny making any statement of myself walking out of the contract for any other I-League club. I'm very excited about the new contract and I'm looking forward to the exciting three months of the proposed tournament."

The IMG-Reliance is in the process of contracting Indian footballers and will also look at the possibility of taking I-League players on loan for the tournament which is slated for early next year in the empty slot of AIFF calendar.

"If at all I'm allowed on loan system, than I would also like to explore playing for an I-League club," he added.
