Inter-Services Intelligence chief Lt Gen Zaheer-ul-Islam today briefed Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on the national and regional security situation.
Reports said the issue of "missing persons" - or those detained without charge by security and intelligence agencies - was also discussed at the meeting.
Islam called on the Prime Minister and briefed him about the national and regional security situation, said a statement from the premier's office.

The government is facing immense pressure from Supreme Court Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry on the issue of 35 "missing persons" from Balochistan.
The apex court has been pressing the government and intelligence agencies to produce the detainees. It has directed the Defence Minister to appear before it and provide information about the detainees.
Sharif earlier held the defence portfolio but swiftly handed it over to one of his close lieutenants, Khwaja Asif, after the Supreme Court took up the matter.
