ISKCON's Gita Jayanti Utsav to begin from Thursday

The devotees of ISKCON Mayapur are organising a three-day Gita Jayanti Utsav starting Thursday till Saturday at the Gita Bhavan complex in the temple campus in Mayapur in Nadia district.

The aim of the Utsav is to spread the message of the Gita to all sections of the society, HG Laxmi Govinda Das said in a release issued by the ISKCON.

The Gita Jayanti festival scheduled to be celebrated in all 650 centres across the world and the host of programmes are slated to mark the divine Appearance day of Bhagvata Gita, Das said.

The function includes congregational chanting by devotees who will take out a procession in Mayapur on Friday, the release said.
 

The same day there will be a seminar on the importance and relevance of practising the teachings of Gita in the present age of Kali Yuga and how it can be a harbinger of harmony in the world.

The next day, complete recitation of all the 18 chapters of Bhagavat Gita will be done followed by performance of a "Yagya" for global peace.

The three-day programme will have a large participation of students from across the nation who are pursuing Gita course other than this approximately 1000 devotees are expected to attend it.
