The Israeli army shot dead a Palestinian in the occupied West Bank today after a stone-throwing incident near the northern city of Nablus, said sources on both sides.
The army said it had fired warning shots before opening fire on a group throwing stones at Israeli civilians.
Palestinian security officials said the stones had been thrown at military vehicles.

They had no immediate word on the age or identity of the dead man but said a 19-year-old was also wounded in the same incident.
Around 20 Palestinians have been killed by the Israeli army in the West Bank since June, according to an AFP tally.
