The Delhi High Court today stayed proceedings against journalist Syed Mohammad Kazmi, facing trial in the Israeli diplomat attack case, and asked him to file a fresh plea against transfer of his case from Tis Hazari to Patiala House Court.

A bench of justices Pradeep Nandrajog and V K Rao directed Kazmi's counsel Mehmood Pracha to withdraw the present petition which challenged the order of the Delhi High Court pursuant to the city government notification for transfer of cases under Delhi Police Special Cell from various courts to a special Patiala House court.

It stayed the proceedings in the case and asked Kazmi to file before it within a week a fresh petition challenging the notification issued by the Delhi Government.

In Patiala House Court, Additional Sessions Judge Daya Prakash is presently hearing Kazmi's case and the next date of hearing is October 30.

Following a Delhi Government notification on September 12, the cases under Delhi Police Special Cell, including Kazmi's, have been transferred from various courts to a special Patiala House court.

Kazmi's counsel had told the bench that Additional Sessions Judge Atul Kumar Garg of Tis Hazari court has completed the hearing of arguments on framing of charges and it is unfair to transfer the case at this stage.
