Opposition today cornered the Rajasthan government in the Legislative Assembly over alleged corruption by the CMD of Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation (RSRTC).

BJP members walked out and CPM members staged a dharna in the well of the House demanding suspension of the CMD.

CPI(M) MLA Amra Ram raised the issue of irregularities in the recruitment of drivers and conductors in the RSRTC and demanded the resignation of its CMD from the government.

Another MLA of CPI(M), Pema Ram, alleged that a sixth standard pass man was working as an officer in the RSRTC's Sikar depot and he was being protected by the CMD.

After the protest, the BJP staged a walk out and the CPI (M) MLAs Amra Ram, Pema Ram and Pawan Duggal were on a brief dharna in the well.

Earlier, in the Question Hour, Social Justice Minister Ashok Bairwa assured the House of action against the officers who could not utilise money to distribute pre-matric scholarships to eligible OBC students.

He was replying to a question raised by BJP MLA Suryakanta Vyas who alleged that pre-matric scholarship to such students could not be given despite the available budget for the same.

She held officers of the department responsible for the delay in the distribution of the scholarship.
