IT enabled skill can bring lot breakthrough in agri sector

Students should be proactive in developing IT enabled agricultural technologies that can facilitate farmer-friendly applications, a senior official in Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) said today.

Entrepreneurship development coupled with applications of science and technology can bring lot of breakthrough in the agriculture sector, Dr R Rabindran, Registrar, TNAU, said.

Addressing the 5th edition of National Level Student symposium +Transpire,+ being organised by Students of B. Tech (Agriculture Information Technology) here, and attended by 100 students, he said that integration of IT knowledge in agriculture was the need of the hour in order to reduce manpower usage as well as drudgery in performing various farming operations to raise an effective crop.
 

Hence the students should be proactive to learn IT skills and try to imagine for the development of electronic gadegets to perform IT enabled agriculture, Rabindran said.
